Jacob VanDerWerf, 11, bottom center, will perform in a string ensemble in the Steamboat Symphony Orchestra’s education and outreach showcase “Together in Concert” at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Library Hall at Bud Werner Memorial Library.

Training the next generation in the language of music
The Steamboat Springs community boasts a number of exceptional musicians, not the least of which is 11-year-old Jacob VanDerWerf. He is not only an excellent violinist in his own right, but he is now teaching violin to first-grader Natalia Craig.
