Army Sgt. 1st Class Samuel Romero presents a flag to Sandy Forbes Beran on Sunday during a memorial service at the Steamboat Christian Center for Beran’s father, Peter Forbes, who died May 31. Forbes served in the Army during the Korean War and lived in Steamboat from 1971-2003. While in the Yampa Valley, Forbes owned an auto parts store, worked as a real estate broker and then taught at Colorado Mountain College. He retired to Craig in 2003.
