Steamboat Springs High School 1988 graduate Dan Zarlengo and his family have found a way to work together in the fishing industry in Petersburg, Alaska. Their fishing tender, the Theresa Marie, was named boat of the month for September by Pacific Fishing magazine. Pictured, left to right, are Zarlengo’s sons Ben, 14, and Joe, 18, and wife, Kristen.

Contrary to the reality show portrayal of Alaska commercial fishermen as hard-bitten loners who leave their families behind for weeks at a time, Dan Zarlengo and his family spend the summer portion of the fishing season living on their fishing tender and working long days together.
