Freestyle skier Stephen Wilson takes flight off a jump Wednesday at Howelsen Hill while training with the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club. The historic downtown ski area, which has been open to the members of the Winter Sports Club for training, will open at 10 a.m. Saturday to the public with a free ski day.

The city of Steamboat Springs, which operates the historic ski hill, had wanted to make it available to members of the community before opening day as a thank you for supporting the Howelsen Hill Centennial Campaign.
