The Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club’s cycling membership has skyrocketed in the last few years and now the club sends it’s top bike athletes to competitions around the state and region. Tammy Jacques, center in yellow, and her husband, Rishi Grewal, began coaching the most competitive athletes this spring.

The Ride the Rockies event returns to Steamboat Springs this year and takes place from Saturday to June 17. The ride takes cyclists through Colorado and will feature 22,000 feet of vertical gain and more than 400 miles of riding.

St. Louis runner Tom Whalen follows behind world-class ultra-marathon racer Geoff Roes during a run before last year’s Run, Rabbit Run 50-mile ultra-marathon in Steamboat Springs. Whalen and a group of St. Louis runners have been making regular trips to Steamboat to compete in distance races for the past couple of years. He will be running his sixth Steamboat Marathon today.

The Michelob Ultra Runners, a group of highly competitive friends from St. Louis, have been logging top finishes in the Steamboat Marathon and have made Steamboat a year-in, year-out stop. Steamboat Springs Police Department officers responded to a call of a child who fell into Butcherknife Creek on Saturday morning. The child was pulled out behind the Rio Grande Mexican Restaurant and was being flown to the Front Range for treatment.

Mitch Clark, standing in the water, and Clay Rogers (driving the skid steer) had to work in several inches of water Friday. The owners of Snow Country Nursery, off east U.S. Highway 40, were removing the trees for an installation job. The nursery has been flooded since Tuesday, and with warmer temperatures the water isn't expected to recede anytime soon.

Tom Wood, and his dog Halle, hangs out in the front yard of his Fairview Home. Wood is releasing his first album after decades of performing. Wood, who has lived in Steamboat Springs since the early 1970s, is a regular local performer. He will perform with Sound Scoundrels at 8:30 p.m. today at Hahn’s Peak Cafe.

Realtor Scott Wither's clients are willing to engineer a trade for their home with a caretaker's unit in the Running Bear home at the ski mountain to facilitate its sale. Essentially, they would trade down into a buyer's less valuable property. In order for the trade to work, the buyers would likely bring cash or obtain a mortgage loan to the deal in order to trade up.
