Lowell Whiteman Primary School founder Nancy Spillane laughs during a tribute Wednesday night at the Strings Music Pavilion. Spillane was surrounded by family, friends and community members during a farewell ceremony that included a musical tribute, speakers and coffee and dessert. Spillane, who served as head of school, is retiring after 18 years and plans to spend the next six months traveling with her husband Jim, seated to the left, to Israel and perhaps Jordan and Egypt before heading to Thailand, New Zealand and Turkey. They plan to return to Steamboat before Christmas.
