Steamboat's hospital sees decrease in number of births

YVMC averaged 430 babies a year from 2006 through 2008. There were 321 babies born at YVMC in 2010. The number of births last year represents a 25 percent decrease from the three-year average. The lower number can be linked to the recession, and it was something the hospital had planned for in its budget, spokeswoman Christine McKelvie said.
