Eric Olson casts into the Yampa River directly below the dam at Stagecoach Reservoir. The Upper Yampa Water Conservancy District completed the reservoir in 1989, and is concerned about adding water rights after a recent Supreme Court opinion ruled the conservancy could not divert water from Morrison Creek.

The Colorado Supreme Court released an opinion this week that critics say could jeopardize the Upper Yampa Water Conservancy District’s ability to obtain additional water. The district had been looking to firm up its water supply by finding an alternative source to the Yampa River.
