Man gets probation for obstructing paramedics

Doctors' reports suggest Stephen Thomas might have survived otherwise

The man, who was 17 at the time and is now 19, had pleaded guilty to obstructing emergency medical personnel as they tried to help Stephen Thomas after he stopped breathing at a North Routt County party in 2009. Thomas later died. Visiting Judge Thomas Ossola accepted a plea agreement and sentenced the defendant to 18 months of supervised probation, to 64 hours of public service and to write an apology note to Thomas’ mother, Jackie Saari.
