Scott Tipton defeated McConnell in the GOP congressional primary that ended Tuesday, setting up a rematch of the district’s 2006 congressional race and putting a disappointing end to McConnell’s grass-roots campaign that included an endorsement from Sarah Palin.

Scott Tipton and Bob McConnell spoke briefly today at the regular meeting of the Routt County Republicans. The two candidates are in a primary race that will determine who will oppose Democratic incumbent U.S. Rep. John Salazar in the November election.
