Chris Roberts, right, and Katie Stockhaus browse the auction items available Sunday afternoon at the Lowell Whiteman Primary School's Scholarship Auction at the Ghost Ranch Saloon in downtown Steamboat Springs. The pumpkins were designed by 11 local artists to coincide with the Halloween theme of the auction. The proceeds from the highest-bid pumpkin will be given to LIFT-UP of Routt County.

Nancy Spillane, director of Lowell Whiteman Primary School, said if early returns are any indication, the school's scholarship auction Sunday evening at the Ghost Ranch Saloon went a long way toward providing financial aid to its students next school year.
