Soroco jumper Alex Estes completes a run for the long jump while working out at the Steamboat Springs High School track Tuesday afternoon. Estes is one of nine athletes who will travel to Jeffco Stadium in Lakewood for the state meet. Estes will compete in the 1,600- and 800-meter relays, as well as the triple and long jumps.

Professional pianist and music educator Alpin Hong performs Wednesday for local students during a Strings Music Festival youth outreach program at the Strings Music Pavilion. Hong is performing in a concert Friday with youth musicians from Routt and Moffat counties. There is a wait list for tickets to the free concert.

Bowman said he told the class to be "Dumpster divers," intending for them to look in the trash cans at CIS. He laughed when he learned that students took him at his word and literally dove inside Dumpsters for more plastic bottles.
