Steamboat Springs native Todd Lodwick, left, celebrates his double gold medal showing at the 2009 Nordic World Championships, which were held in Liberec, Czech Republic, with U.S. Nordic combined teammate Bill Demong on Friday at the base of Steamboat Ski Area. Demong is a New York native but spent several years training in Steamboat Springs. He also won gold and bronze at the World Championships. Both skiers were honored for their performance at a community celebration.

Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue firefighter Joe Messina sprays water under the hood of a truck while firefighter Craig Malchow holds the hose Friday morning when firefighters responded to a vehicle fire at the intersection of U.S. Highway 40 and Colorado Highway 131. Vehicle passenger Karl Hubenthal, of Oak Creek, said the vehicle stalled near the intersection and then caught fire. No one was injured.
