South Routt Elementary School fifth-grader Chandler Cruson was crowned Grand Champion of the school's recent science fair for third-, fourth- and fifth-graders. Chandler's project detailed the many variations of crystals, including some he grew himself.

The members of the Steamboat Springs Figure Skating Club will bring a little bit of Las Vegas to Howelsen Hill at 7 p.m. this Friday and Saturday with their production of Viva Las Vegas. Club members, back row from left, featured in the show will include Heather Nereson, Hanna Haggarty, Samantha Cretney, Kayla Haggarty, Kaitlyn Espinosa and Ellie Bender. Tickets to Viva Las Vegas are $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 5 to 17 and free for children age 4 and younger. Tickets will be available at the door.
