Dave's Dippers dressed as Dippin' Dots ice cream for the 2008 Penguin Plunge. The team jumps each year in tribute to Dave Linner, a flight nurse who was killed in an accident in 2005. Linner helped start the annual fundraiser to benefit Yampa Valley Medical Center in 2004 when he expressed a need for patient simulators at the hospital.
