Steamboat Ski & Bike Kare repair shop manager Tim Magill works on a pair of skis Thursday in the shop. Sporting goods sales tax revenues were down almost 21 percent in December 2008 compared with December 2007, according to a report released by the city Thursday.

Hayden High School's Murphy Smartt tries to grab a rebound last week as the team lost at home to Meeker. Hayden went on to win Saturday against Vail Christian and will attempt to build on that momentum tonight as they travel to Soroco. The Tigers beat the Rams, 63-54, in December.

Father-and-daughter duo John and Sara Sant'Ambrogio will perform a Vivaldi double cello concerto as part of the Steamboat Springs Orchestra Valentine Soiree at 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The concert includes heavy hors d'oeuvres and wine, and will be at the Steamboat Springs Community Center.
