Nordic team members: Lost bags, jet lag are just part of the sport
Changed flights, missing bags and long international flights are just part of the game for the members of the U.S. Nordic Combined Ski Team. “There is nothing that we can do about it,” said Dave Jarrett, U.S. Nordic combined coach. “Unless we want to live in Europe, we are always going to be faced with challenging flights and tight schedules.”
America’s best moguls skiers battle for Olympic slot today
The first moguls run on Voo Doo ski trail at Steamboat Ski Area takes place at 1 p.m. today for the men and women. The second run is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
Olympic Trials offer athletes a chance at their dreams: an Olympic berth
On Wednesday and Thursday in Steamboat Springs, athletes on the U.S. Freestyle and U.S. Nordic Combined ski teams will look to replicate what moguls skier Travis Mayer and U.S. Freestyle team aerialist Ryan St. Onge have done in previous Olympic Trials. “The Olympic Trials is one of the most important events of the year for us,” St. Onge said. “Usually we have to spend all the Olympic preparation period competing to gain spots on the team. But if you win the Olympic Trials and get that spot early, you can focus all your attention on the Olympic Games.”
