Jim McCreight finished his first Ironman Triathlon in 12 hours, 56 minutes and 53 seconds. He hopes to shave at least an hour off his time when he returns to the desert for next year’s event.

McCreight said he lost about 20 pounds as he trained two years for the event, but he said that doesn’t represent the dramatic change in his health and that he worked to eat more nutritious and lower his body fat while preparing for the big race.
