Soroco Middle School student Ridgelee Gingerich leans back to throw the javelin Wednesday at a track meet in Hayden. Without a javelin with which to practice, the Soroco team used a broom to help prepare for the Hayden meet. The javelin is rarely an option at area track meets, though there's a movement to have it added to the high school's state track meet in the coming years.
