Lowell Whiteman Primary School student Dylan Parsons, 11, lays out an emergency blanket to keep firewood dry this week during an overnight excursion near Pearl Lake State Park. The school's fifth- and sixth-graders learned how to build a fire, emergency shelters and first aid skills during the annual winter skills trip. Seventh- and eighth-graders spent a night at Steamboat Lake.
