Runners make their way up Howelsen Hill for the first lap of the U.S. Trail Running National Championship on Sunday in Steamboat Springs. Youth and women runners made two loops on the course while men made three.

Give them some credit - nearly every runner who sprinted away from the starting line of the U.S. Trail Running National Championship in Steamboat Springs maintained that pace as they started up the steep and unforgiving face of Howelsen Hill.
