Paving crews milled Fifth Street on Thursday morning as part of several paving projects that are under way in downtown Steamboat Springs. Thursday's work temporarily cut off downtown access to Howelsen Hill, forcing drivers who wanted to access Howelsen to detour to Mount Werner Road and use River Road. However, the road reopened Thursday afternoon, allowing normal access.

Crews working on paving projects in downtown Steamboat Springs plan to finish projects today, while crews at the base of the Steamboat Ski Area have extended road closures as improvement work continues.
