Sam Rogers, of Billings, Mont., trains Friday afternoon at The Compound, a private snowmobile training facility at a ranch west of Steamboat. Steamboat Springs resident John Sandelin turns 98 today. The legacy of the Routt County native includes ranching, building and owning the Royal Rest Hotel, and working as a firefighter the day the Cabin Hotel burned to the ground.
