A snow drift sparkles in the sunlight in Steamboat Springs on Tuesday afternoon. The sun was a welcome break from a series of cloudy, snowy and windy days. The National Weather Service forecasts sunny weather with highs near freezing today and Thursday. A chance of snow returns to the area Thursday night and Friday.

Cars fill the Knoll parking lot at the Steamboat Ski Area on Tuesday afternoon. Today, the ski area will begin constructing a temporary event tent to house an upcoming series of music concerts. The tent formerly was set up in the lower parking lot adjacent to the gondola building, but that site is no longer available because of the construction of One Steamboat Place, a luxury condominium project. Ski area officials said the south half of the Knoll lot will continue to be available for free skier parking. Parking also is available in the Meadows lot near the Tennis Center at Steamboat Springs.
