A 22-year-old Massachusetts man died Friday afternoon after falling headfirst into a tree well at the Steamboat Ski Area. It was the second snow-immersion death at the ski area in 10 days.

Steamboat Springs snowboarder Dan Tullos knows firsthand how too much powder can quickly create a deadly situation. About this time last year, Tullos was cruising down the Priest Creek lift line at the Steamboat Ski Area when he dropped 15 or 20 feet off a rock. It almost cost him his life.
