Steamboat Springs High School sophomore Paula Ninger was one of four Forensics team members to qualify for the state tournament, March 14 and 15 at Chaparral High School in Parker. Senior Ashley Lopez, junior Blaise Holden and sophomore Parker Stegmaier also qualified for the tournament.

Last week's total lunar eclipse was compromised by clouds, but they helped set the stage for this dramatic shot from local astronomer Jimmy Westlake, a professor at Colorado Mountain College. Here, Westlake captured the "Snow Moon over Stagecoach State Park, showing a lunar halo, a vertical pillar and a pair of eclipse moon-dogs straddling the overexposed image of the eclipsed moon." Westlake said he used a 16mm lens set at f2.8 on a Fuji Finepix S2 digital camera for a 30-second exposure.
