The Steamboat Springs School Board voted Monday night on whether to give "hard-to-fill" positions in the school district a pay increase next year. Some of the positions that have been difficult for the district to fill include those of bus drivers, custodians and maintenance staff.

The downtown Steamboat Springs area is filled with a number of historic homes. The city's Historic Preservation Policy Review Committee is close to writing a historic preservation ordinance that would replace existing policies and regulate the redevelopment of some properties in neighborhoods such as this one.

At its meeting tonight, The Steamboat Springs City Council will consider adopting design standards for areas outside the mountain base and downtown area. The adoption may include more relaxed design standards for affordable housing.
