Steamboat Springs artist Phoebe Fulkerson works on a plein-air painting Thursday along Colorado Highway 131 outside Yampa as part of a fundraiser for the Steamboat Art Museum. The museum is hosting its annual fundraiser beginning at 4 p.m. today at Wolf Run Ranch. Plein-air artists will be given two hours to create a piece of art to be sold in silent auction with other original artwork during the evening. Food from the Steamboat Meat & Seafood Company and dancing with the Greg Scott Band begin at 5:30 p.m. The cost is $125 per person. Call 870-1755 for reservations.

The ceiling, which was constructed using white and blue ceiling tiles to resemble a sky, is one of the unique features at the school, which is nearing completion.

Andrew Hoing swings to return a serve Friday at the Tennis Center at Steamboat Springs. Hoing joined Andy Caress to play in the NTRP Tournament doubles bracket this weekend. The pair beat James Swiggart and Martin Coe on Friday afternoon, rallying for a 3-6, 6-3, 10-6 victory.

Shawn Klein, of Fraser, rams his truck into Jimmy Healy's on Friday night at the Demolition Derby at the Routt County Fair in Hayden. Klein won the truck division of the event after Healy and Gary Svoboda stalled out while ramming each other. Klein seized the opportunity, repeatedly slamming his truck into theirs until they gave up hope.
