Michael Weston will be playing in a Colorado Golf Association event this week at the Pinehurst Country Club. Weston graduated from Steamboat Springs High School in the spring. He's spent his summer working on his golf game and plans to try to walk on at the University of San Diego this year.

Robinson held Bingham off to win the race, finishing the 10 1/2-mile course in 52 minutes, 21 seconds. Bingham crossed the line less than a second later.

Isaac Haskins, left, tries to unload "Rusty Willow," his art entry into the Routt County Fair, on Wednesday morning at the fairgrounds in Hayden. Haskins, with the help of friends Chris Skof, Justin Moor, Scott Armbruster and Charley Holmes, used a front loader to get the piece off his truck, then muscled it near the exhibition hall. He said the piece, made of horseshoes and scrap metal from his Hayden welding business, took about 100 hours and a lot of help from friends and family to complete.

Keala Fraioli, left, and Malia Fraioli take a break from swimming at the 2008 Seasonal State Championships in Cortez. The two sisters were the only members of the Steamboat Team Lightning swimming team to attend the championships. Keala finished second in the 50 and 100 breaststroke, 10th in the 50 free and 14th in the 200 free. Malia finished sixth in the 100 fly and 11th in the 100 back.

Tim and Hannah Padavic, of Chicago, float down the Yampa River this week. Despite the slowing waters, the river still is a popular place to escape the August heat and enjoy Steamboat Springs.
