Ten-day-old Jayme Brungardt rests in the arms of her mother, Melissa, on Wednesday at the family's home. Jayme was born Feb. 15, and within hours, doctors realized she needed an emergency blood transfusion because of a low number of red blood cells. Colorado State Patrol had to transport the needed blood through closed roads Feb. 16 in whiteout conditions caused by snow.
