Retired avalanche forecaster Art Judson took this photograph Tuesday of an avalanche path on Saddle Mountain, south of Steamboat Lake. Judson said the fracture was 1 to 2 feet deep and the slide packed enough punch that it could have destroyed a wood-framed building.
