Hope Wahlin Stauffer
April 25, 1930 - August 27, 2012
Hope Wahlin Stauffer passed away Aug. 27, 2012. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Charles, who passed away Nov. 7, 1995. Hope is survived by her four children, Lynne, Lou, Jeff and Todd; their spouses; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Hope was born April 25, 1930, in Chicago to Fred Wilhelm Wahlin, an immigrant from Sweden, and his wife, Eloise Pashley.
She attended North Central College in Naperville, Ill., where she met Charles Wesley Stauffer through mutual friends. They where married June 23, 1952, in Sweden while Charles served in the military and was stationed in Germany.
When Charles was discharged they settled in St. Charles, Ill., and raised their four children.
They followed their children to Colorado and settled in Steamboat Springs in 1980.
They started attending the United Methodist Church of Steamboat Springs, where they became involved in many activities. Hope especially enjoyed Bible studies and the quilting group.
She has made countless quilts throughout the years and most recently enjoyed making quilts for orphans. She was working on her 33rd quilt for orphans when she passed.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Sept. 1, 2012, at the United Methodist Church of Steamboat Springs.
