Mac McAfee

unknown - September 27, 2012

Mac McAfee, 63, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home Sept. 27, 2012. Mac first came to Steamboat Springs in the 1970s as the supervisor for the construction of the three draglines at Trapper Mine in Craig. Steamboat remained his home even as his work in the mining industry took him to many places across the country and the world. In 2003, he decided it was time to stay at home and started his own business in the local construction industry. He also was the inspiration for the Mac’s Omelette on the menu at a local restaurant. Those who knew him can imagine that when he arrived at the pearly gates, he immediately began tinkering with them to make them work better. Cheers to a life well lived.
There will be no service. A celebration of life will be held in summer 2013. Memorial donations can be made to the Yampa Valley Medical Center oncology department, 940 Central Park Dr. No. 104, Steamboat Springs, CO 80487; or Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice, 940 Central Park Drive, No. 101, Steamboat Springs, CO 80487.
