Sometime between 1968 and 1970, she moved to Brooklyn, N.Y., where she worked as a New York City operator.
On Sept. 5, 1970, she married Michael R. Ware, whom she met while living in New York. They moved to Washington state after he was transferred to Fort Lewis.

On Dec. 27, 1985, Judy married Anthony L. Carlson. They would have celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary in December.
Judy’s grandson joined the U.S. Army and is stationed in Seoul, South Korea. As a little boy, he called her grandma-ma, and they watched a lot of “Addams Family” reruns together.
After retiring in 2004 from the state of Washington, Judy moved to Steamboat Springs and made this her home with her husband, Tony, and stepchildren Candice and Kenneth.
She worked at Walmart from 2005 until her health no longer allowed her to work.
