Judith Ann Carlson was born in Weehawken, N.J., to Spilman and Helen Gibbs on Feb. 8, 1948. She graduated from Palmyra High School in 1966 and then attended junior college.
Sometime between 1968 and 1970, she moved to Brooklyn, N.Y., where she worked as a New York City operator.
On Sept. 5, 1970, she married Michael R. Ware, whom she met while living in New York. They moved to Washington state after he was transferred to Fort Lewis.
Judy started working for the state of Washington employment security department in 1971. She stayed there until her retirement in 2004.
In August 1972, Judy gave birth to her daughter Danielle Rene, which was no easy task.
On Dec. 27, 1985, Judy married Anthony L. Carlson. They would have celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary in December.
Judy’s grandson joined the U.S. Army and is stationed in Seoul, South Korea. As a little boy, he called her grandma-ma, and they watched a lot of “Addams Family” reruns together.
After retiring in 2004 from the state of Washington, Judy moved to Steamboat Springs and made this her home with her husband, Tony, and stepchildren Candice and Kenneth.
She worked at Walmart from 2005 until her health no longer allowed her to work.
Judy passed away at 12:30 p.m. Nov. 14, 2012. Her family was by her side during her last moments. She was holding her daughter’s hand as she took her last breath.
Judy is preceded in death by her mother and father as well as her ex-husband, Michael R. Ware. She is survived by her brother Phillip K. Gibbs; nephew Alex Gibbs; daughter Daniellle R. Ware; stepdaughter Candice Carlson; stepson Kenneth Carlson; and husband, Anthony L. Carlson.
