Much-loved mother, grandmother, sister and friend Gwendolyn J. Angle, 73, died May 6, 2012, in Steamboat Springs.
Gwen was born Aug. 27, 1938, in Toledo, Ohio, to Martin and Julia Lazinger.
She is survived by her children Cathy (Robert) Solomon, of Fairbanks, Alaska, Valerie (Paul) Smale, of Plymouth, Minn., and Anthony (Theresa) Wilson, of Colorado Springs; brother Joel Lazinger and his longtime companion Sara Bentley; four grandchildren, Sosha, Skylar, Shelby and Sloan, of Fairbanks, Alaska; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Angle; her parents, Martin and Julia Lazinger; and many of her faithful pets.
She graduated from high school in Sioux City, Iowa, and soon after married William L. Wilson. She spent 14 years traveling with the Air Force. She then married William H. Angle and resided in Steamboat Springs for the past 40 years.
She enjoyed volunteering for activities such as the Steamboat Springs Winter Carnival and with the Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association. Some locals may remember her as Woodsy the Owl. She worked retail and then enjoyed the rest of her life caring for her animals at her ranch.
By Gwen’s request, no service will be held. Cremation has taken place. The family would like to thank the many people who helped her through the last days of her life. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Steamboat Veterinary Hospital, 1878 Lincoln Ave., Steamboat Springs, CO 80487.
