Ed Reed, a Fruita resident and a former longtime resident of Steamboat Springs, died May 4, 2012, at The Hospice Care Center in Grand Junction. He was 69.
The son of Donald and Norma Reed, Edward A. Reed was born Oct. 8, 1942. He was raised in Denver, graduated from Englewood High School and attended Western State College in Gunnison and the University of Colorado-Denver.
He is survived by his wife, Betty, with whom he shared his life for 45 years; two sons, Brendan and wife HyunJoo, of New York City, and Aaron, of Savannah, Ga.; daughter Heather Bellerud and husband Martin, of Seattle; two grandsons, William and Leo Bellerud, of Seattle; three brothers, Ronald, of Aurora, Steven, of Grand Junction, and Nordon, of Colorado Springs; a sister, Ellen Hamil, of Lake Nacmiento, Calif.; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Mary and Ken Hussman, of Fruita.
A member of the Colorado Association of Realtors and the Grand Junction Area Association of Realtors, Ed was a broker associate with Coldwell Banker in Grand Junction at the time of his death.
He was a member and active volunteer of the Grand Junction Art Center and a member of the Western Colorado Bonsai Society and the Grand Valley Anglers. He also served on the United Way allocations committee.
Ed loved being outdoors, hiking, biking and fly-fishing. He enjoyed watercolor painting and studying Asian art. Ed loved people, talking to them and learning from them. He was happiest spending time with his family, whom he cherished.
Memorial services are at 10 a.m. July 23, 2012, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 790 26 1/2 Road in Grand Junction. Lunch will follow at the church.
