Clyde Raymond Lockhart

Clyde Raymond Lockhart, of Cheyenne, Wyo., died Dec. 30, 2011, at the Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne. He was 93.
He was born April 3, 1918, in Steamboat Springs to Raymond and Ruth Lockhart. The family moved to Casper, Wyo., for a few years. Both of his parents died there, and Clyde and his two brothers returned to Steamboat Springs in 1936.
He graduated from high school in May 1937, and in May 1938 he married his high school sweetheart, Louise Summer See. They moved to Cheyenne in 1942. Clyde worked for the U.S. Postal Service and Railway Mail Service for 33 years, retiring in Cheyenne in 1972. He served in the Navy and was stationed in the Fleet Post Office in Seattle, Wash., in 1945.
He was a member of First Congregational Church of Cheyenne and volunteered at Meals on Wheels.
Clyde was a devoted husband and loved his family. His favorite pastimes were reading, fishing and spending time in the woodwork making pieces of furniture for his family.
Clyde was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jack Lockhart.
Clyde is survived by his wife of 73 years; two daughters and sons-in-law, Marlene and Stewart Whited, of Grand Junction, and Kathleen “Kass” and William Wright, of Kansas City, Mo.; a son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Naomi Lockhart, of Pueblo West; six grandchildren, Kimberley Flynn, Todd Whited, Jandi Polka, Jeffery Lockhart, Krista Wright-Oran and Kurt Wright; eight great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Lloyd and Annabeth Lockhart, of Steamboat Springs; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Lockhart, of Granby.
Cremation has taken place at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens under the direction of Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel. Interment of his urn at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens will take place at a later date.
