unknown - March 21, 2012
E. Ames Chandler, the daughter of John Derwin and Elizabeth Wyman Chandler, lost a heroic five-year battle with ovarian cancer on March 21, 2012. She was 59.
Ames was born in Minneapolis and raised on Upper Lake Minnetonka. She lived in Evergreen and was a graduate of the University of Montana. She also earned a master’s degree from the University of Oregon.
Ames spent her personal and professional life outdoors — skiing, racing, coaching, sailing, golfing, hiking, biking, scuba diving, traveling and impressing everyone she met with her zest for life. Ames spent more than 20 years living and coaching skiing in Steamboat, followed by time in Lake Tahoe, Glenwood Springs and, most recently, Evergreen.
She will forever be adored by her spouse, Mary Morgan; mother, Betty; siblings Brooks, Weezie, Jimmi and John; family Annie, Robin, Ken, Caitlin, Robbie, Michelle, Ashley and Chelsea; cousins everywhere; and countless friends, especially in Colorado. She remains unequaled in her love of humor, high adventure and Nut Goodies.
Celebrations of her next adventure may be made to the Colorado Ovarian Cancer Alliance (www.colo-ovariancancer.org) in support of “Team Ames.”
