Grace Marie Boddy Mills, 84, of Cañon City, died Sept. 11, 2011, at her daughter’s home in Phippsburg.
She was born Oct. 3, 1926, to Claude C. and Fern L. Lundy in Greeley. On April 26, 1947, she married John T. Boddy in Raton, N.M. They lived in Walsenburg until 1948, when they moved to Routt County, where John worked at the Keystone Mine. In 1955 they moved to Finger Rock Rearing Unit near Yampa, where they lived until their retirement in 1984. At that time they moved to Florence, where they owned a home.
Grace and John had three daughters, Betty Davis (Bob), Christine Nicholas, and Charlotte Whaley (Lynn); seven grandchildren, Michele Clyncke Briels, Gary Clyncke (Ann), Jeff Clyncke (Sonja), Laura Huffstetler, Jay Whaley (Shiloh), Dusty Whaley(Heather), Jerry Whaley (Heather); 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
Grace was a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star, and she was active with Rainbow for Girls and the American Legion Auxiliary. She worked for many years at the drug store in Oak Creek. She enjoyed crafts¸ sewing, crocheting and spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father Claude C. Lundy; her mother, Fern L. Lundy; her brother, Claude C. Lundy Jr.; her nephew Jonathan Lundy; and her husband of 52 years, John T. Boddy.
In 2008 she married Bob Mills. They lived in Cañon City until September 2011, when she returned to Routt County to live with her daughter, Charlotte, and to be surrounded by family and friends.
