Lela Nevielle Spencer, 90, a retired federal employee, died Dec. 20, 2011, at the Doak Walker Care Center.
She was born June 4, 1920, in Walsenburg.
She was active in Eastern Star, and in the community life of Hayden.
She and her husband, David, were responsible for the original lighting of the Hayden Christmas tree.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David A. Spencer, grandson Robert G. Barnett, and granddaughter Christina Lee Raybourn.
She is survived by her son, Bill Rogers, and his wife, Montine, of Hayden; daughter Beverly Barnett, of Phoenix; stepchildren Valerie Raglione and David R. Spencer; nine grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
A memorial service took place Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011, at the Hayden Congregational Church.
