Bill Valikonis passed away peacefully on May 1, 2010, with his loving mother by his side.
Bill was born to William and Susan Valikonis on April 5, 1972, in Brownsville, Texas. He lived in Santa Barbara, Calif., for the past 20 years after moving from Steamboat Springs where Bill was reared and graduated from Steamboat Springs High School. Steamboat is where Bill gained his appreciation for nature and loved to camp with his family and friends. In Santa Barbara, Bill worked as a vet-tech, and his love for animals was greatly appreciated by people in the community.
Bill forever will be remembered for his passion for animals, literature, politics, social justice, family and friends. He was an artist, poet and, most of all, a fan of music. He definitely knew music — its history, artists and how it all went together. Bill was generous, funny, compassionate and kind to anyone he met.
We are comforted in knowing that Bill is being met by his dad, William Valikonis; his grandparents, John and Nancy Hall;
and his cousin, Nathan Hertzog.
Bill was loved by family and friends who surrounded him in his final days. We lost you far too early. We will miss your smile, your laugh, your sense of humor and your kindness. Enjoy the journey!
Bill is survived by his mother, Sue Valikonis; and brother, John Valikonis, both of Carpinteria, Calif.
A memorial service was held at Cate School Chapel in Carpinteria, Calif., on May 15, 2010. In lieu of flowers, the family has established the William Valikonis Memorial Fund, c/o Santa Barbara Bank & Trust, Santa Barbara, CA. Funds will be used to assist others with medical needs.
