Dorothy L. Shively

Dorothy L. Shively died quietly at the Doak Walker Care Center on March 5, 2010. Dorothy and her husband, Marvin, moved to Steamboat Springs from Peoria, Ill., three years ago to be near their son and his family.
Dorothy was born June 14, 1921, in East Palestine, Ohio. Her parents were the Rev. John B. Wieand and Viola Burkhart Wieand. Dorothy married her beloved husband March 29, 1947, in Decatur, Ill. They later moved to Peoria for Marvin’s job with Caterpillar Tractor Co.
Dorothy and her husband were lifelong members of the First Church of the Brethren-Peoria. Dorothy was survived by her husband of 62 years, Marvin U. Shively, who died March 19, 2010. Dorothy is survived by her son, John, and his wife, Kate; granddaughters Jennifer, of Toluca Lake, Calif., and Nicole, of Breckenridge; her brother, Ralph Wieand, and his daughter Janet, of Wheaton, Ill.; her sister-in-law, Verena Clement, of Merritt Island, Fla.; and her son, Jym MacPherson, of Melbourne, Fla.
A private family service will be held. Memorial donations for Dorothy may be made to the Doak Walker Care Center, c/o Celia, 1100 Central Park Drive, Steamboat Springs, CO 80487.
