David E. Ege, 50, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends with the anticipation of his new adventures in Heaven on Nov. 13, 2009.
He lost his life’s battle very quickly after learning he had renal cancer. The past three years, while living in Oak Creek, Dave was constantly and lovingly cared for by his wife, Eve, after he became a quadriplegic while working on a job site in Steamboat Springs.
Dave was born Jan. 19, 1959, at the Deaconess Hospital in Grand Forks, N.D. He grew up and attended school in Niwot; Longmont; San Jose, Calif.; Grand Forks and the University of North Dakota.
Dave had a very full and adventurous life and rarely held back. Horses, Harley, home improvement and modesty were his way.
A funeral was held Nov. 21 at the Soroco High School gym in Oak Creek. A potluck wake followed at the Black Mountain Tavern in Oak Creek.
Dave wishes his ashes to be spread over the 11,000-foot Flat Tops Wilderness Area outside of Oak Creek, where he and Eve loved to ride horseback, trout fish, gaze at elk and just be together.
Dave is survived by his wife, Eve; brother, Steve (Lynda); stepson, Trevor; stepdaughter, Corinna Schueler (Greg); granddaughter, Kayla; grandson, Layne; and numerous nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and a myriad of friends.
He was preceded to Heaven by his father, mother, grandparents and other family members.
