Charles A. “Charlie” Cordova died Dec. 17, 2009, at his home near Baggs, Wyo., following a lengthy illness. He was 52.
Charlie was born Sept. 26, 1957, in Walsenburg to Louie and Betty (Schmidt) Cordova. He was raised and attended school in Steamboat Springs.
Charlie married Kristy Pfaffenhauser on March 17, 1986, in Pueblo, and to this union, two children were born: Chance and Sacora. Charles and Kristy moved to their current home near Baggs in 1989. Charles worked as a rancher, and he and Kristy were active in team roping and operated the Last Chance Roping Events.
Charlie enjoyed roping, fishing and braiding rawhide.
He is survived by his wife, Kristy, and their children Chance and Sacora, of Baggs; his daughter Ginger Ryan, and her husband, Michael, of Pueblo; and his son Matthew Ellis and his wife, Megan, of Cañon City; his grandchildren, Michael and Norie Ryan, of Pueblo; his parents, Betty Cordova, of Walsenburg; and Louie Cordova, of Baggs; his mother- and father-in-law, Lennie and Raymond Pfaffenhauser, of Walsenburg; his sister, Teri Lowe, and husband, Daniel, of Tulsa, Okla.; his brothers Bill Cordova and wife, Lori, and Stoney Cordova and his wife, Syndy, all of Walsenburg; and John and his wife, Tracey, of Colorado Springs.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service was held at The Little Snake River School in Baggs with Loren Baysinger officiating.
