1916 - 2008
Steamboat Springs native Frances Light Frank Sanford passed away April 2, 2008. She was 92.
She was born Frances Light on March 8, 1916, in Steamboat Springs. The eldest child of Clarence and Anna Light, she spent a happy childhood in Steamboat and graduated from Steamboat Springs High School. She later attended Colorado Womens' College in Denver.
In 1938, Frances married Charles Frank. She lived in many different places during her lifetime because of her husband's job with the U.S. Forest Service. She lived in Pueblo for many years, and was residing there at the time of her death. She and Charles were the parents of two sons, Walter and Norman, who both survive her. Her husband Charles passed away in 1978.
Frances remarried later in life to Allen Sanford, who preceded her in death along with parents and brother James Bruce Light.
Frances is survived by four sisters: Margaret Cardy of Denver; Annabeth Lockhart and Audrey Temple of Steamboat Springs; and Marian Scott of Boulder.
