Peter Brewster of Steamboat Springs passed away May 6, 2008. He was 55.
Peter Brewster was born June 4, 1952, in Denver. He grew up there and graduated from George Washington High School. He attended Western State College in Gunnison.
Peter was a member of the "Bambino Brothers," a freestyle aerial team, competing nationally in the 1970s. He moved to Steamboat Springs in 1980 and worked for the Steamboat Ski Area as supervisor of the Race/Special Events Department. Peter then moved to Maui, Hawaii, where he worked as a carpenter and enjoyed wind surfing and chasing whales. Beginning in 1994, he began spending winters again in Steamboat, working for the Steamboat Ski Area and the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club. Pete was involved with Steamboat's Nordic Combined World Cups handling all event venue management and preparation. During the past four years, he was the SSWSC's On-Hill Event Venue Director.
Pete is survived by his mother, Roberta Brewster, and sisters Jill "Gus" Brewster and Pam Brewster, all of Denver.
A memorial service potluck is planned for 6 p.m. May 21 in Olympian Hall at Howelsen Hill Lodge. Memorial donations can be sent to the Peter Brewster Fund at the SSWSC, P.O. Box 774487, Steamboat Springs, CO, 80477.
