Theodore Banasiewicz
March 16, 1957 - August 26, 2007
Former Steamboat Springs resident Theodore Banasiewicz died surrounded by his loving wife, Lois, and his family at his home in Silver Spring, Md., on Aug. 26, 2007. He was 50.
Ted was born in Rome, N.Y., on March 16, 1957, to J. Theodore and Effie Banasiewicz. Ted grew up working on his parents' dairy farm, Clover Dairy, in Rome, N.Y. Later, Ted graduated from Clarkson University with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering. Ted furthered his education at RPI and received an MBA in finance. Ted was a successful and well-respected engineer who devoted his professional services to the power industry.
We will miss his cheerful and loving voice, sense of humor and especially his unwavering positive attitude about everything he encountered in life. The world is now minus one terrific father who loved his children very much, a devoted husband, a consummate "trout bum," a world-class snow skier and a loving dog trainer. Ted's soul belonged to the West, but his heart belonged to his family.
Ted is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Lois Banasiewicz; his five children, Jennifer and Christopher Banasiewicz, Kathryn Hale, Jennifer Rampulla and her husband, Marc; his beloved dog, Rusty, and Pumpkin, his cat. Ted also is survived by his parents, J. Theodore and Effie Banasiewicz, of Rome, N.Y.; and his brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Jody Banasiewicz, and their children, Sam and Jake, of Raleigh, N.C.
Ted will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
A memorial service honoring Ted will be held at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 16, 2007, at Brookside Gardens, 1800 Glenallen Ave., Wheaton, MD.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Yampa River State Park, P.O. Box 759, Hayden, CO, 81639. Please include "Ted Banasiewicz Memorial" on payment.
