Former Oak Creek resident Millard "Dale" Finch passed away Oct. 17, 2007, in Greeley. He was 73.
He was born Aug. 10, 1934, in Fairplay, Mo., to Orman and Beva Finch. Dale moved to Colorado with his family from Missouri in 1938. He grew up on the farm in Deer Park, and graduated from Oak Creek High School in 1952. In 1957, he served in the U.S. Air Force for four years where he was stationed in the Philippines and in California. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force in 1961. He married Barbara Williams in 1958, and from that union they had three children. After serving his country, he moved to Utah and then back to Colorado in 1964 to raise his family and run restaurant services. Dale retired in 1992 and moved to Greeley where he spent his time with his family and friends. Dale gave unconditional love to all his friends and family.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Orman and Beva Finch; one brother, Frank; and one sister, Euleta.
Dale is survived by his daughter, Gwyn Ellen Finch of Fort Lupton; two sons, David and Randy Finch of Grand Junction; four sisters, Mary Alice Fornash of Denver, Shirley Blakeman of Denver, Linda McFarland of Windsor and Barbara Gates of Kansas City, Mo. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Jacob Holder, JD Finch, Mike Finch, Heather Finch, and Jamie Finch; three great-grandchildren, Jacob Levi Holder Jr., Joey Lee Finch and Jazmin Rose Finch.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family in care of Gwyn Finch, P.O. Box 122, Hudson, CO 80642. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Oct, 21, 2007, at Newcomer Family Funeral Home-West Metro Chapel in Lakewood. Burial was at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver.
