Steamboat Springs resident Michael Steven Jacoby died in his sleep Oct. 27, 2006, in his home. He was 24.
Despite his young age, the Silver Plume native lived a full life.
"It was useless for Mike to try and save money," said Lisa Jacoby, his younger sister. "He lived by Carpe Diem."
Michael was born March 2, 1982, in Silver Plume to Steven Robert Jacoby and Kathleen Ellen Jacoby.
Michael lived the life of a snowboarder. He moved to Steamboat Springs two years ago and had many friends. Michael loved camping, fishing, snowboarding, skiing and "everything outdoors."
Mike's friends describe him as the "craziest, kindest soul," and to his little sister, Andrea, he had, "the biggest heart."
In his spare time, he wrote hip-hop lyrics. Although he never performed live, he would always flow his hip-hop lyrics to his family and friends.
Michael is preceded in death by his grandfather, Robert Jacoby; an aunt, Lisa Jacoby Moeller; and great-grandparents, Forest Galvin, and Michael and Bernadine Gallagher.
Michael is survived by his parents, Steven and Kathleen Jacoby; sisters Lisa Rae and Andrea Morgan Jacoby; grandparents, Ron and Pat Galvin, and Janice and Wayne Platt; great-grandmothers, Theresa Galvin and Louis Brown; great-aunts and uncles, Greg Brown, Michelle Nelson, and Rita and Carroll Vis, John and Carolyn Kalish, John and Diane Gallagher, William and Kathleen Gilbert; aunts and uncles, Steve and Terry Brunett, Michael and Lisa Galvin, Margie Galvin, Al and Mary Mayan, Rob and Susie Chidester, Tom and Jennifer Julseth, Rob Jacoby, Teresa Myers and Janine Martin; and 20 cousins and countless friends.
