David R. Anderson
December 19, 1943 - July 26, 2006
Former Steamboat Springs resident David R. Anderson died July 26, 2006, at the Regional West Medical Center after a long illness. He was 62.
David was born Dec. 29, 1943, in Scottsbluff, Neb.
He and his wife, Judy Harris, were married June 7, 1964, in Kimball, Neb.
He and his wife graduated from Banner County School in 1962. He graduated from Southeast Community College in Milford, Neb., with a degree in diesel technology.
He was a lifelong resident of Banner County and owned a home in Steamboat Springs, where he and his wife lived full-time from 1997 to 2004. They were members of Concordia Lutheran Church. They moved back to Banner County in November 2004.
David was active with community, church and family. He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Scottsbluff. He served on the board of ESU No. 13 for 14 years, held many various offices in the church and did volunteer work with Elks Lodge 1367. He was a member of the Rotary Club in Kimball and a past area director of Federation Wrestling for youth.
He farmed and ranched in Banner County and was co-owner and general manager of Kimball Ford. His employees and the Kimball Chamber of Commerce named him "Boss of the Year." During the years he and his wife lived in Colorado, they managed property, did painting and carpentry and set tile. Most recently, they owned and operated "Nana and Poppa's Place," a food concession business.
David was a "fix anything" kind of person and loved woodworking, the Cornhuskers and his dogs. His family and friends were so important to him and were his biggest treasures.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Rose and Carl Anderson and Ed and May Gulick; and in-laws, Alta and "Blackie" Harris.
He is survived by his wife; his parents, Ralph and Imogene Anderson of Scottsbluff; his sons and daughter-in-laws, Michael and Heidi and Mark and Tiffani all of Banner County; his grandchildren, Olivia, Meighan, Kiersten, and Trevor; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Donna and her husband, Jerry Jacupke, of Hastings, Neb., and Peggy and her husband, Bob Harris, of Augusta, Ga.; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends in numbers too many to count.
Services will be held July 31, 2006. Memorials in David's memory may be given in care of the family, Calvary Lutheran Church or the Festival of Hope Cancer Fund. Tributes of sympathy may be left at www.dugankramer.com.
